Andrew Straus eyes World Cup
Andrew led England during the winter tour of India and now captains the 15 man squad for the NatWest Series against Sri Lanka. Strauss told the ECB website:
“I don’t view myself as the new England captain but I do see it as a very important job with the World Cup coming up in 2007, and it is a great honour to be leading my country."There'll also be a number of new recruits including Jamie Dalrymple, Ed Joyce, Tim Bresnan and Glen Chapple. However, seam bowler Steve Harmison should be returning to the site. Struass commented:
"The selectors have given a few guys the chance to show what they can do before the World Cup - I firmly believe it is a great opportunity for those guys to stake a claim for a place."So we'll see what happens as to who'll be England Captain and who's in the team. There's a long summer of cricket ahead of us!
