American Security Looking After You

News reaches us that the Americans will be providing much of the security for the 2007 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies.

The CEO of the organising committee, Chris Dehring, stated that America was worrying about security given the West Indies close proximity to the southern reaches of the United States. 'We are getting a lot of assistance from the US on the security for the World Cup, primarily because we are in their backyard,' he said.

He also stated that the nature of major sporting events is changing so now a lot of emphasis is being put on intelligence and observation and that for next year's world cup the US, UK and French governments will be playing a part into trying to make it a safe and secure tournament.
