Jaimaca Gleaner Not Happy
Tony Becca at the Jamaica Gleaner isn't happy with the way the organisation of the Cricket World Cup is going on the island.
He commented: "For the World Cup to be an event, certain things need to be in place - and definitely so in the capital city. With some six months to go, however, nothing but talk and more talk is happening. "
The capital - Kingston is supposed to be restored to its previous glorious self, but it's just not happening.
He's also not happy with the matches being played. The island will host West Indies, Pakistan, Ireland and West Indies. I think he's a bit unfair to the organisers. Unlike the football World Cup, there just arent' enough top quality nations to fill a group with outstanding talent.
Tony also criticises the cost of the tickets. For any world tournament, ticket prices are always too high for the locals. But if you think about it, seeing your nation play in the home world finals of your favourite sport is something that rarely happens more than once in your lifetime. No one is expected to go to every match.
But there is one thing I definitely do agree with Mr Becca, and that's that Jamaica does need a face-lift. As they're hosting the opening ceremony, they need it to be polished and prestigous.
